Welcome to Liscombe Park Equestrian Centre (LPEC) – Important Information Before Booking Your Riding Lesson

At Liscombe Park Equestrian Centre, we strive to provide a safe, enjoyable, and educational experience for riders of all levels. Please take a moment to read the important information below before booking your lesson.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change, and we aim to offer flexibility. However, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your lesson. Cancellations within 24 hours of your lesson start time will not be eligible for credit or refund. This includes cancellations due to severe weather (e.g., snow).

How to Cancel:
Please manage your cancellation through your LPEC account. If you cancel with more than 24 hours’ notice, you’ll receive the full lesson cost as credit, which can be applied to future bookings.

If We Cancel Your Lesson:
If we need to cancel your lesson, you will be notified and your payment will be refunded as credit, which can be used towards future lessons.

Age Restrictions

Our minimum age for riding at LPEC is 4 years old. There is no upper age limit, as long as you feel physically able to mount and dismount safely with the use of a mounting block.

Riding Hat Hire

If you don’t have your own riding hat, we offer a convenient hat hire service. When booking your lesson, simply select the ‘hat hire’ option, and a £2 fee will be added to the cost of your lesson. Hats are available at reception, so please arrive a few minutes early to allow time for fitting.

Riding hats are included in our holiday activities.

What to Wear

Horseback riding is a physically demanding and sometimes risky sport, so it is essential to wear appropriate clothing for your safety and comfort. Comfortable clothing should be worn such as leggings and a long sleeved top or jumper.

Mandatory Equipment:

Riding Hat: If you have your own, it must meet the PAS 015 safety standard. If you do not have one, we offer rental hats for £2.
Footwear: Boots with a small heel are essential. Wellies are fine, but trainers are not suitable for riding.
Gloves: Riding gloves are recommended to prevent blisters from the reins.

Weather Considerations:

In hot weather, please wear sunscreen and cover your shoulders and arms.
In cold weather, we recommend layering with a thin rain jacket.

Choosing the Right Lesson

Children’s Lessons:

For beginners, we recommend our Group Lessons, labelled as Beginner Level 1 Group Riding Lesson. These provide a fun and supportive environment for children starting their riding journey.
If your child has previous experience, a Private Lesson is an excellent way to assess their abilities and tailor their learning.
Semi-Private Lessons are available for riders of similar abilities. If you are interested in semi-private lessons, please contact Katie at 07980007943.

Adult Lessons:

Beginner Adults: We suggest starting with a Private Lesson to establish the basic riding foundations. We also offer a Beginner Group on Sunday mornings, limited to three riders.
Experienced Riders: Your first Private Lesson will serve as an assessment to determine your ability. Based on this, we will update your profile and recommend lessons that match your level. You can choose from additional private lessons, group lessons, or a mix of both.
